Hmm, I wonder if my DH and the previous poster work for the same company. Only Marriott used to be banned. I've recently been able to book him into them. He prefers Marriott brand suites (like Springfield/Fairfield) where he gets more room and a kitchenette, so he can make his own breakfast and sometimes even packs his own lunch, if he's at a location for more than a couple days (dieting).

Official air policy is coach/cheapest (never Y, but sometimes H), but we've found that booking timing has a lot to do with getting H, which leads to more frequent upgrades. There's this separate travel agency software you have to go through which declares travel arrangements in or out of policy. If preferred airline is not too much more when out of policy, he can usually get it approved.

As for meals, he gets a per diem and dealing with receipts and approval for out of policy meals became such a hassle that he just goes with the per diem and pays cash/personal cc for meals. It frequently works to our advantage, unless there's some new fancy pants restaurant in the area that he just has to try!
