Providing unopened bottles of wine or champagne to excellent customers is an incredibly generous and thoughtful gesture that flight attendants can do (a few flight attendants from different airlines, including NWA, have done this to me & Mrs. Meatball), and I really hope that threads like these don't cause the airlines to clamp down on this otherwise relatively rare practice.
