And on an Air Canada flight, the emergency exit instructions are given verbally by FA's in both English and French. Air Canada does try their best to conduct all in flight commands in both English and French. Althought 99% of the time from my past experience, in-flight commands are in English. Because of the linguistic situation in Canada, no one would ever ask an Anglophone to leave the emergency exit on a YUL-YQB (French city pair) flight, nor would anyone ask a Francophone to leave on a YYZ-YVR flight (English city pair), because of political correctness. Would this result in any delay in case of emergency evacuation, we don't know. But I am sure if a passenger claiming to speak neither English nor French, would be kindly asked to switch seats with someone else who does speak one or both of these languages.

AF does offer PAX the option to have good seats at 50 euros. Maybe the next time as an extra-fees paying customer, you will be able to stay at the emergency seat. Just a thought.
