I agree. We had a 6+ hour layover in GRU last year on the way back from EZE (much cheaper than the direct flights) with no RCC access and it was really painful. The transit area is small with a restaurant (more of a snack bar), a magazine stand, and the small duty free shop. Leaving the airport (for US citizens anyway) is $100/each for visas right off the bat and, according to all reports, there isn't much nearby to see anyway. I spent a lot of time pacing back and forth along that hall.

In fact :
a) There is one *A lounge fully equipped with magazines, food, fruit, beverages -all types- and showers. There's also an RG lounge for first class passengers. These lounges are meant for International passengers but there's also a small one, before security, for domestic passengers. These lounges are in Terminal 2. In Terminal 1 there's a RCC, open during UA operations, also much better than the average domestic RCC.

b) It's known that Brazil charges 100 USD to issue a visa for US Citizens, in reciprocity to the 125 USD+expenses US Consulates charge Brazilien to check the possibility of issuing them a visa. But... hey, nowadays US wouldn't even let a Brazilian without a visa to transit through a US airport, so you should consider yourself lucky

c) I do agree that merely pacing back and forth on that awful long corridor wears off any patience one might have...

Regarding what to do for over 4 hours in GRU please check suggestions at : http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum...ML/000351.html

The above thread also has my personal opinion on RG recent C standards.
