Singapore, Virgin or both?

I have been a long time member of British Airway's executive club and probably fly long haul in business class 5 to 10 times a year. I am less critical of BA's Club service than a lot of people but am open to finding out whether Virgin and Singapore are both so much better (as many people claim). I understand they have an affiliated points scheme.

In January I will be changing job and relocating to Singapore (from London). I expect I will still have a fair bit of long-haul travel (plus quite a lot of South East Asian travel). However, my first long haul trip on either airline will be this week on Virgin (flying upper class from Heathrow to JFK).

I am wondering if anyone has a perspective as to whether I would be better off joining Virgin's or Singapore's FF scheme - or indeed whether there is any benefit in joining both.

Any thoughts welcomed!
