Indeed. One sometimes sees rambling rants making all sorts of absurd generalizations without any evidence for it. You don't have to look very far to find an example: up an inch or two.
It's like everyone who is not Silver/Gold or who flies on an 'I' fare or (God forbid) is upgraded somehow becomes a third class passenger and should never be allowed onboard. Again - not everybody has a luxury of having their companies pay for their First/CW flights helping earn status.
Well, I normally buy I-fares. I often have upgrades (mostly with miles: op-ups are rare on BA). And my company has never paid for any BA flights for me; I pay for all my BA tickets myself. I can't say I particularly feel ike a third-class citizen around here. (Maybe second
