You will not get a refund, forget it...But, there's a thing or two to be said about the way Emirates handled the whole situation. Airlines should be prepared to handle chaotic situations.
I remember last year, I was in LAX for a LAX-TPE-SIN flight. when due to a typhoon in Taipei, the flight got delayed by about 8 hrs. SIA took care of everybody smoothly, they put all of us (I was in economy) in a nearby Hotel (a very good one).
Since, i missed my onward connection in SIN, they again put me up at a nice hotel in singapore, even though it may have been a force majeure situation coz of the typhoon.

while Emirates is an OK airlines, its by no means anywhere in the upper echelons of the industry as is evident from the shoddy training the air host/ess receive (How else can u explain the way they serve their customers on the plane). Btw, if u had a good experience with ur host/ess, i would just give that person a couple of months before he/she learns from her peers how to (mis)treat a passenger. Welcome to the Emirates school of flight attendant training.

My experience is based on flying 12 segments this year on Emirates, and I have been flying Emirates for the last 10 years. I have noticed the deterioration in service over the years. Hopefully, my next flight, which is in business class will be better, but, I am not expecting too much.

Why do i fly emirates? coz they have convenient connections from Hyd to the east coast US and European/US carriers on long hauls offer similar or worse service.
