WRCSolberg is correct that STL isn't that busy these days. AA's baggage handling staff has been correspondingly reduced. I would agree that your luggage has an excellent chance of making a 30 minute connection as long as your arrival
and that of all flights ahead of you are on time. If another flight ahead of you is delayed, the baggage crew scheduled for your flight may be otherwise occupied when your flight hits the gate.
Pack your carryon accordingly.
