DNMV (Do Not Move flag) on room assignment at check-in?
So I just checked into the Westin St. Francis in SanFran last night. When I checked in he gave me my room number (which was in the old tower) and I asked if there wasn't a room he could give me in the new tower, top floor type thing, where I normally get upgraded to regardless of what I book. He said there was a message DNMV which means do not move, i.e. do not change my room, it has been assigned, and that's it. He thought maybe I had an amenity already in the room or a delivery or something already in the room. So I go up to the room, and there is nothing here. So what exactly was the reason for not allowing them to move my room? I'm not terribly happy with this room, I've called them twice about the A/C unit. It has been on for 5 straight hours now and it's still not where I want it. The temp outside is colder, and the window is open. I can't sleep with the unit on because it's so loud. They've been up here twice now. I didn't care about not moving rooms, but being unable to sleep comfortably has got me asking why I was stuck in this room. It's not a suite just a regular room with two double beds in the old tower facing union square.
