Good lesson learned there. When arriving at an airport like ORD, that has the baggage tag kiosks, I always go straight to the kiosks.
That way, if my bag is delayed or lost, I can go take care of it right away instead of standing around waiting at the carousel like a dope.
Saved me 30 minutes on two different occasions last winter when my skis were put on later ORD-DEN flights.
