As noted, the EXP was right to complain in this case. The evils of "FC has check in full" have been much discussed as has the inapplicability of the number of people on the upgrade/standby list. We recently flew out of MCO. We wanted to standby on the earlier flight. There were over 50 people on the standby list. We asked, and were added after mentioning EXP...no argument. We were #1/2 on the list after that. We also requested (and got) upgrades. I'm fine not getting these things if I'm not supposed to. But I'm not fine having someone tell me they will not add me just because there are X people on the list, or Y of Z have checked in. Add me and let things happen as they will. That's part of their job.
