I didn't really want to have to start another thread but in searching the forum I was coming up empty....

So here it is;

we are staying for four nights at a guest house in Topanga Canyon and are looking for recommendations for good coffee (not SBUX!), lunch spots and a dinner suggestion. A good used bookstore is also welcomed.

Our hosts recommended the Inn of the 7th Rey but I noted a posting on a Yahoo site that advised of a cockroach infestation there in late July which resulted in a shut down. Anyone got an update on that one?

I have already booked a night at Josie's in Santa Monica as well and am curious about anyone's recent experience there. Also anyone paid a corkage fee there?
