I think this is a good option to increase passenger-numbers.
By using trains for short routes(like CDG-BRU, AMS-BRU) slots and planes will come free to use them for new routes, but still be able to serve those passengers.

But they should also look at the transfer %, because that's (especially with KLM) very important.
