As to AirUnion - it was a joke really. I can't fathom how *A could even entertain the idea of taking them in before, say, 2050. Hey, even MS looks like a first-rate carrier in comparison.
The new entity transferred all of their flights to VKO yesterday. They'll continue to operate under their respective licenses until October 1 when all of their routes, planes and staff will be folded into Atlant Soyuz - an even sadder joke of an airline if there ever was one.
Expect DME to become much less crowded ^
Expect fares in and to the Russian Far East to become much higher as the new carrier will have a monopoly

Expect *A to keep on lacking a meaningful partner in Russia for quite some time.

(Let's face it, there's only one decent full-service carrier in Russia and it's already taken)
