Yep, I do buy and wear "local attire" - when I like it, and when it suits me. Kind of the same standard I use at home, actually. In Mexico, I turned down the embroidered dresses because they didn't suit my figure at all, but found a couple beautiful locally made blouses that work for me. I've got Singapore batik, English grown, designed and knit sweaters, a Filipino style blouse (can't come up with the right term at the moment) and probably another half dozen "ethnic" items in the closet.
