The FA's onboard still have some control of what the IFE plays. It does not play automatically. We have to input a "route code" depending on the length of the flight. If a FA gets to the "route codes" well enough then we can modify what is played on the flight...When I am flying purer and I know that actual flight time will be 1:30+ then I always try and show a movie vrs. an hour + of commercials.
