With a day to cool off some additional retrospect.
1. Being in the aviation industry I fully understand the Captain's responsibility. However he certainly did NOT do an adequate job of testing the first fix that allowed the passengers to board in the first place.
2. In 30 years of flying I have learned that sugar works better than anger. I don't play the ugly American role well and have learned that in Asia it is bad form and makes things only worse.
3. As far as UA not yet in the PAN AM mold, I seriously disagree. You have the same employee mentality as PAN AM did towards the end. Stews, Pilots and Mechanics with a me first attitude -- especially those with seniority.
4. As far as this is a limited experience NO it is not.. 5 thru NRT in the last two + years. 3 missed connections/layovers, one weather and two mechanicals.
5. Finally -- international travelling is an adventure. I love it!! On to Saigon today..
