Been to Mauritius quite a few times (April) staying at the Maritim. Best time for MRU is Oct-Dec rather than August which can be cooler. North/West coast is better and you can hire a car or better for £50 per day inc fuel and driver to hire a taxi from the hotels but better dealing with the drivers direct. Tell them where YOU want to go as they can have a habit of stopping at 'firends' outlets. Botanical Gdns worth a visits as is an afternoon trip to Grand Baie/Port Louis. A day trip to Ile de Cerf beach is fantastic.

Went CW most times but CW out an WT+ better deal as the trip back is a day flight. Always had good service to MRU. Trip Advisor on MRU has usually accurate reviews.
