We've recently come back from our Honeymoon in Mauritius and it was great. We stayed at the Oberoi on the North West coast - chosen not just for being a top resort but also the weather on the west is supposedly better in August than on the east, which can be windy (SE trade winds).

We hired a car to travel around for a 3 days, and got to see most of the island, which to us was very important. It would be far too easy to got to a place like MRU and straight to a cossetted 5 star resort and not get to see the real Mauritius. Maybe this is what some of the guests want, but it wasn't for us. We got to see some beautiful scenery, some real Mauritian people, and we went over to the east of the island to lazy on the beaches there too.

Weather wise, it wasn't as sunny as we would have liked, but it wasn't ever cold, even in the evenings. But then it all depends on your definition of cold!
We only had one day of decent rain, but we were in the interior then which is more prone to it. Ironically, we actually had more sunshine in South Africa the preceding week!

We flew back in Club World and the crew/service was fantastic. Had a taster of First on the way out to Cape Town, again with an equally subperb crew and service!
