If those machines issued boarding passes they would be quite useful. But the way they work at the moment they just seem to be a total waste of time.
This is strange as it is exactly what they should be doing, together with changing seats and printing vouchers. It doesn't work all the time - I've had a bad experience myself once - but it seems to be working most of the times. Perhaps case of bad luck???
