Thanks all for your advice on this matter. I've now decided to wait until I arrive at Changi to buy the booze. Seemingly, they will place it in a tamper-evident bag, then allow me to board with it. Is that correct?

I'd prefer not to buy it on arrival, just want to head on home.

Another thing... in a tight connecting schedule, can I dash between gates whilst grabbing the stuff, or must there be the '1 hour before departure' rule?
