Why do (some) airlines think a warm cabin is more comfortable for passengers?

After enduring uncomfortable warm cabins on BA several times, I experienced the same thing on a KLM flight last night, from Singapore to Amsterdam.

I mentioned to a flight attendant that it was very warm, and his response was "Yes, we keep it warm because it helps passengers sleep better".

I completely disagree with the logic. To sleep, I need to be comfortable. And if it is too warm, I cannot get comfortable. Hence, I cannot sleep.

The fact that airlines like KLM and BA have done away with the individual air vents on most aircraft has made things even worse. So now it is stuffy too, in addition to warm.

So is it just me, or do others also dislike this habit of certain airlines (mainly European ones, never had this problem on NWA, Singapore Airlines, or many other American and Asian airlines) keeping the cabin too warm on night flights?
