What's even more shocking is that the "night hub" was in a unique position: offer late flights from Vegas with no competition (WN does not do redeyes). At an hour that many actually want to leave town in Vegas' case.
However, as I've said in other threads, I don't attribute all of this to the price of gas: the strip hotels in Vegas have also had a case of "irrational exuberance" in the last few years--which is, I believe, contributing to Vegas' woes.
