Since you are Ivory, I guess you were Blue in those days before FB.

Before 2000 miles expired after 3 years. So not even the rule that you had to fly every 3 year, miles expired... This changed for the good in 2000 (no expiration) and since 2005 it's the rule as we now know off.

So it was just a short time the way you mentioned.
