I would just try again and be clear that you want a flight from TIJ-MEX-CDG on x dates and all flights connecting or not from MEX-europe on AM are 50K skymiles. You have until 9pm PST before the rates increase potentially.

You do have to purchase the mexican FM transit card which is bought at the TIJ airport at the Aeromexico window and then stamped by the immigracion official just after someone checks your ID and boarding pass standing before baggage screening. It costs $220 (pesos MXN).

That fact that DL agents don't even know the only direct ST route to PVG/NRT for all of Mexico and for San Diego area is pathetic (and they need to stare at those flight maps in the back of skymiles magazine more often)....also there are convenient one stop flights TIJ-MTY-HAV that leave every saturday (but Dl won't honor the MQM on that one)

Oh and they spruced up TIJ even more....now a second floor outside security with Starbucks and Carl's Jr with spiffy runway views. When I was there a few weeks ago saw a bunch of European tourists....I struck up a conversation and apparently it is the new way to visit the US for cheaper.....fly to MEX-TIJ and then cross by foot and then rent a car to US destinations unknown.
