I'm just wondering why you don't fly out of SAN. Depending on your departure date, there are usually several flights on DL metal to choose: SAN-CVG-CDG and SAN-JFK-CDG are two that I recall without doing further research, and I'm sure there are numerous other ST partner machinations to get you from SAN to CDG. If you can specify a range of dates you would like to travel, a FTer or two might be able to point you in the right direction for a 50k Skymiles reward for your itin. without you having to make a run for the border.
