And to the OP; sorry the plane wasn't the new configuration, but the 767's with the new seats are still a minority. I'm in the same boat coming up this Monday. I'm hoping the 747 will be the new seats (that is what shows on the seat map), but I've got row 15 UD, just in case...
For clarification, I was traveling NC.

Regarding tone or intent of the FA, it was clear at the time (and remains so in retrospect) that the offer to deplane was not offered to further customer service. There was a sense of agitation on her part. Though as I mentioned in my prior post (or at least meant to) there was no perceived carryover to the tone of service for the rest of the flight.

Regarding the configuration, there is a massive difference between the old 767 seats and the new configuration. The new configuration was noted in the seat map from the time that I booked the ticket two weeks prior (and confirmed my upgrade) and was confirmed until I boarded the plane. I confirmed the config in BOS and at the club in IAD. While I don't expect for UA to magically make a newer plane appear, they ought not be able to advertise a quality of service that they cannot consistently deliver. I also understand that planes can be switched for a number of reasons.

That's all....
