It's kinda funny to se families who have no clue that WN changed the family preboard. On our last flight out of MCO, there was a parade of families who all jockeyed into position (getting the way of the disabled boarders), thinking they were going to get in front of the As. Seeing their bubble get burst gave me a keen sense of schadenfreude as I stood there clutching my A17 (those who have seen Avenue Q will know that I'm talking about).
I've never really been crazy about the family preboarding when they had it at Southwest.. I always got the impression that there were a large percentage of people who were taking advantage.. You'd see people preboarding with kids who looked like they were old enough to not need very much extra attention. Sure enough, you'd get on the plane and they'd be parked right in the front bulkhead seats...
I never get those seats anyways because flying nonrev you have low boarding priority, but It still annoyed me.
