I am a little bit confused. May I ask what kind of confirmation you are asking?
1. Do you want fellow FTers to confirm when they use a UK-issued SPG/HH Amex (if UK issues them) to purchase TCs in US dollars from the "right" Travel Centers, have they been charged for cash advance, on top of FX fee?
2. Or are you asking FTers to confirm if they had used US-issued SPG/HH Amex in UK to purchase TCs in US dollars and had been charged for cash advance?
3. Or some other scenario?
All I know from reading this thread is the success stories from American FTers (or US card holders) using US-issued SPG/HH Amex in the "right" Amex Travel Centers in the United States, buying TCs in US dollars. (Please read my
Six-Step Model Summary. You probably have to modify it to the local currencies/policies.)
I would think there's no other way to confirm if this would work the same way outside the United States except for other "brave" FTers to buy TCs in non-US location the report back to the board. Our confirmation was all from fellow FTer who had personally done it in US.
Are you willing to be the guinea pig?
