I haven't found print confirmation of this: only a USA Today article from May in which a spokesman denied both claims.

Is this confirmed? If true, it's the end of all direct flights to LAS from virtually everywhere, including SNA and SEA. And, necessarily, the end of my nine-year relationship with the airline.
I believe this is true. I flew on USair on one of their redeye from LAS to SAN last month. Gate agent told me that they are cutting back on their LAS hub and will downsize the number of employees there. Most of their redeye flights will be cut.

She said that she didn't care about her airline anymore with all the paycuts after paycuts and downsizing....because she just accepted a job offer with SWA in LAS.
