I dunno about that one -- I had a senior res. agent tell me that I couldn't use a US connection ATL-CLT-SFO for a Asia Star award because the MOST DIRECT ROUTING applies (i.e., can only use the daily ATL-SFO nonstop). And yes, her SUPERVISOR (Jill, in the SEA office) backed her up.
