Funny you should raise this as a couple of weeks ago in LGW North, I was asked the strangest thing by a youngster in a BAA t-shirt.

I was making my way from International Arrivals up to Departures following the circuit of escalators and this fella appeared to be guarding the throat of the up escalator, you know, the one adjacent to the Simply Food shop. He asked me to lift my rollerboard and not rest it on the escalator. It was possibly the most bizarre instruction I have ever received at an airport (or anywhere else for that matter). It wasn't as if the rollerboard was going to get snagged in the runners and suck me under.
