Who said that we can fit 2m in 1.55?
I said...
- 13, 9 and 5° are real figures.
- They are officially available on AF website.
- The bed is flat on the 3 versions.
- And of course, you'll not be able to have 5° and 2m at the same time.
At last I promise links and explanations to justify myself.
Now the drawing...

The background is the version 1 and comes from an AF document (I'm sure you know it).
The red seat is the 13°, the blue one the 9° and the green one the 5°. You can verify the angles on Photoshop if you want
The theory is the following: sin(angle) x length
- after 1.55m with an angle of 13°, you create a space of 35 cm
- after 1.55m with an angle of 9°, you create a space of 24.2 cm
- after 1.55m with an angle of 5°, you create a space of 13.5 cm
But of course, you must take into account the seat thickness. So 13.5 cm - the seat (perhaps 7/8cm) means more or less nothing left.
So...
The version 1, 13°, was IMO an error. There was no reason for so much angle.
The version 2, 9°, is exactly the same seat as version 1 (called "Contour amélioré" instead of "Contour", from Contour Premium Aircraft Seating) but with a new control panel (easier to understand) and a smaller angle. This new angle is in fact the smallest reasonable on this configuration to keep the full length. It leaves the minimum space to extend your legs.
The version 3, 5°, is a new seat (called "BE Aerospace"), and is not exactly like on the drawing. It goes deeper under the next seat (+12cm), and has been optimised to recline as much as possible, up to the maximum under the next seat (the shape has been adapted to be // to the seat).
So this seat leaves in fact the possibility to stay around 7/9° with 2m long or to go up to 5° on +/- 1.55m.
Conclusion, from a marketing point of view, everything is true. 5° and still lie-flat.
But from a tall passenger point of view, of course the 5° configuration is not really usable; even if... it exists
P.S.: the good news is... the version 4 will be horizontal and I bet on suites for the new Espace Première.
Just my 2c. To be continued...
