Question for BoeingBoy!!!

I’d like to look this issue a little closer and ask an expert...BoeingBoy!

Jim, with the current state of electronics found on modern aircraft is it any harder to fly a Boeing 777 than to fly a 737 of the same period? Should Capt's of 777's get paid more than Capt's of 737's if the planes are equally as easy/hard to fly? I know you expertise is about Boeing aircraft, but do you have friends that fly E-175 or E190's and is there a difference in difficulty flying those sister aircraft? Are these modern aircraft as easy/hard to fly as say a CRJ or E-45? The logic of this whole pay scale issue based on the size of the airplane baffles my mind now that so many aircraft share common platforms and type ratings (i.e. 757-767, A319-A320-A321, CRJ 200-900).

What would your thoughts be on changing pilot pay based on merit and not the actual aircraft flown? Certainly there has to be some very skilled and talented pilots who are just as good as the 777 drivers, but won't have a chance in heck of getting the chance because they are too far down the list to try out for that aircraft. Should they get paid less because they fly a 737?

Just curious...
