Went back to
Devi after almost a year last night. Reservations were easy-- same day for a table for 3, for Thursday at 7 pm-- although I have had similar luck with Union Square Cafe in the past, owing to cancellations I think.
The food was as amazing as ever! May even have been better, I dont know, but definitely made me wonder aloud why we didn't go there more often. A very friendly waiter, within earshot, was helpful saying that there was indeed so much to do in New York City

. Be that as true as it may, this place definitely ranks as one of my favorite Indian restaurants in New York, and deserves more than one visit a year. The chef and the hosts are always gracious and friendly, the service top notch, and the food delectable. Turned out they have an extended restaurant "week" menu for $35 per person for dinner, through labor day. The halibut was the highlight of the meal, while the lamb chops were as good as ever.
The place eventually was packed.
