The difference is that some of the contractors likely are making a wage that's strike worthy - a wage that subsidizes topped out employees by keeping the average cost low. The practice of "eating the young" isn't going to last forever.
Unless of course the pay, benefits and conditions for these workers changed during their employment, then any labor action is BS. One would know what they are going to be paid, whats benefits they will get, etc before they take a job. If you don't like the "package" don't take the job. Especially don't go taking the job and then cause a problem afterwards because you don't like what was offered to you.
If however like I mentioned, if the "factors" i listed changed drastically after you've already been employeed, then thats another story.
