I think that transferring MR points to an airline program and then redeeming for a premium-cabin international ticket would be the textbook example. For around 100K, you could get a ticket that would cost $8-12,000 if purchased at full fare. Some would say that it's not reasonable to equate the value of miles directly with the full price of the ticket, as the award ticket comes with significant restrictions and in the end it may be worth only what you're otherwise willing to pay for it. But in any event, I'd say that in almost any situation, such a ticket would be worth well more than $1300.

I do not think I would from Amex Plat especially now since I will have to pay the $450 fee if I get one.
Okay, so make the total cost $1750 a year. The ticket I describe is still worth far more than that. But if you have no need or desire to travel internationally, then it may be a moot point.
