My question about schedule change was for an involuntary change. With over 9 months before departure, there is a definite risk of a schedule change.
If you have the award ticketed, then if AA makes a change to the schedule that would cause it to be a stopover , then this will not impact you since you are already ticketed
if you haven't ticketed and they make a schedule change, then you are probably going to be out of luck
