Coupons have no change value...
Oh United, you have lost your way...
I received a $350 goodwill voucher for a broken IFE LHR-LAX in C. Decided to put it to use flying SAN-SFO-SAN. I ticketed it in BOS after holding it through the 1k desk. It was ~$280 roundtrip (V-class refundable fare) plus $14 in taxes which I paid out of pocket.
Decided I needed to change the outgoing. No luck, the ticket has a value of $14. Apparently, even though I booked a refundable ticket, once it is booked it using a "coupon" you can't change the outbound. No value whatsoever.
United took a $350 goodwill voucher and made it into $280 worth of bad will. How sad!
From San Diego it is turning into more and more of a JetBlue and Southwest city for me. No change fees on CA/AZ/NV flights on Southwest and non-stops SAN-BOS/JFK on JetBlue pretty much have me covered.
