For Row 11 on the 319, as I was for 11D last week, you will definitely be asked at check-in if you are able to assist and you will then usually be asked by the FA (should all the time but ...) after boarding. If your child is not able to assist, then you better re-seat yourself now versus taking your chances on the plane.
