A responsible flight attendant would tell his/her captain that they need a meal break before taking off. The captain can either a)delay the flight until said meal has been acquired from the food or b) if their is a minimum compliment of flight attendants on board, the captain or fo collect the money from the flight attendants (or if he's really nice just treat everyone) and the flight deck can run to the food court.

If you get hungry while up in the air that's one thing, but speak up BEFORE we've left the ground if you've gone 12 hrs without a meal.
