The D80 is quite long-in-tooth for a DSLR so to say that it's replacement is likely not far off is pretty much a sure bet.
Based on past Nikon history it would not be unreasonable to guess that this "D-90" or whatever they end up calling it, will debut either just before the Olympics or just in time for the Christmas season push.
I make no claims to having any inside info but I would not be surprised to see this D-90 look an awful lot like a D300-lite inside a D80-like body.
Personally I am waiting to see what the purported new hi-res FX camera and new AF-S primes look like.
