I grew up in FL in the early 60s and we lived with roaches even though back then DDT was in vogue. I still remember the Mosquito Control DC-3 planes flying over our neighborhood in North Tampa bombing us. If a place does not have roaches then it likely has lots to chemicals to make sure they do not have no roaches. There is a happy medium between chemicals and roaches, though my mom would likely disagree.
