If there were a non-stop CDG-LAX on 16 Jul, one would probably fine. To the booking system, the total itinerary with a non-stop would be LAX-CDG-LHR-CDG-LAX. Adding the extra CDG-LHR looks like "backtracking", as that segment has already been flown.
