The seats aren't that much narrower, maybe half an inch. The main saving is the reduction of the aisle width.

Not forgetting KLM ...
Its new B777-300ERS carry 423 passengers in a two-class (Y + J) layout.
Economy class is 3-4-3 with 31 inches of seat pitch and each plane can carry a maximum of some 390 pax in economy.
