No, the noise in the plane is certainly not constant everywhere. It is much quieter in 1A than at door 5R. On the 747, the upper deck and the frontmost cabin are quietest, perhaps because of greater distance from the engines.

Walk through the plane sometime (if you're seated in F). Spend a few minutes at the aft end then walk forward. You'll notice the decrease in noise level.
