I think all public servants / politicians should travel Economy or WTP. It's our money and they should be exceptionally careful in how they spend it - and how they are seen to spend it. Plenty of companies these days have Y travel policies. Why not the political classes?
While, as a civil servant I thank you for paying my wages, that doesn't mean that we don't work exceptionally long hours for much less money than you do.

Many of us choose to work for the civil service because we are dedicated and want to contribute to a better society. When we travel we don't do it lightly, and I can assure you that flying business class is not an exciting luxury that we demand. Like just about everyone else, we have got plenty of better things to do than sit around on another delayed flight into or out of Heathrow on a Sunday, for which we are not getting paid overtime.
