Enraged at Lufthansa
I'm a FTL on LH...tried to book a one-way award ticket (TLV-JFK) in C class and was told multiple times that I needed 67,500 miles to do this. I asked -- again and again -- "are you ABSOLUTELY SURE? They aren't adding miles because it's routed through Europe?" and always heard, "no sir, this is all you need, routing makes no difference."
Thus, I bought an extra 2000 miles (at 60 EUR) to make the 67,500 -- now I'm told, all of a sudden, that because the flight is routed through Europe, it's now 3 zones and I need TWO AWARD TICKETS. Something about not doing one-way tickets through 3 zones was their justification, yet I can't find this anywhere in the rules and regulations (or the Award redemption chart they offer on their website).
I have about 50,000 miles booked for the rest of the year with Lufthansa and their partners, and I'm apt to go ahead and cancel all this and move to Continental already. This is not only misleading, I think it's malicious. These strange rules are not available anywhere, and seemed to have fooled two of their Miles & More representatives.
