HIDDY points out there are a number of items you can't take and surfboards are one of them.
If you wish to carry your surfboard (or any of the other items HIDDY lists below) on holiday you must arrange with our Cargo department (or a shipping company) to get this out there for you.
We are also now checking golf club bags weighing over a certain amount as some people have got wise to putting all their extra clothes in there to save on excess fees. Sorry
If the sewing machine is the persons only item of checked baggage, weighs less than 23kg (or 32kg up to mid November), and is suitably packed, then I see no reason why it can't be checked in
