My mother and I will both be flying FCO-AMS leaving at 9 p.m. on a Sunday, on separately booked tickets. I will have a full-fledged stopover at AMS, not continuing to the U.S. on NW until Tuesday, so as I understand OLCI would open for me at 3 p.m. Saturday and there would be no question of checking in for the next segment.

In my mother's case, AMS is an overnight connection; she'll be continuing to the U.S. on NW metal early Monday. So would check-in for her open at 3 or 9 p.m. Saturday, or early Sunday? Can she check-in for the first segment before it's possible to check-in for the TATL, which she could complete at FCO? I would wait to check-in until we can both do it and sit together. This may be moot because we'll be in small-town Italy and I don't think a public Internet place will be open even on Saturday afternoon; we could do it at a friend's house or ask the friend to do it for us. Since this is a return trip, would her passport information be on record from the outbound, or would the friend checking her in need to have that?
